Ireland’s largest annual arts extravaganza, Galway International Arts Festival, takes place every summer in Galway on the Wild Atlantic Way. This year the event will held until July 24. The event features hundreds of performances and exhibitions in a convergence of arts and arts aficionados, creating one of Europe’s most important cultural events. The fortnight of arts will showcase an international programme of theatre, dance, music, talks, comedy and visual arts. Acts confirmed for the Absolut Big Top so far include Elvis Costello, Dublin band Bell X1 and more. An acrobatic show by Gravity & Other Myths entitled ‘A Simple Space’ will be held from July 19-24 July. Irish rockabilly queen, Imelda May with special guest Damien Dempsey will also play. Theatre production of ‘Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour’ will bring raucous comedy to the Town Hall Theatre stage, among other attractions.
