A total of 36,982 tourists arrived in June 2016 on e-Tourist Visa as compared to 15,557 during the June 2015, registering a growth of 137.7 per cent, according to a PIB release. During January-June 2016, a total of 4,71,909 tourists arrived on e-Tourist Visa as compared to 1,26,214 during the same period last year, registering a growth of 273.9 per cent.
In terms of percentage shares of the top 10 source countries availing e-Tourist Visa facilities during June, 2016, the USA (23.22 per cent) topped the list, followed by the UK (14.16 per cent), China (6.91 per cent), Australia (5.59 per cent), France (4.10 per cent), Germany (4.03 per cent), Canada (4.02 per cent), Singapore (2.62 per cent), Malaysia (2.53 per cent) and Spain (2.40 per cent).
Whereas, the percentage shares of top 10 ports in tourist arrivals on e-Tourist Visa was lead by New Delhi Airport (42.15 per cent), followed by Mumbai Airport (22.94 per cent), Bengaluru Airport (9.95 per cent), Chennai Airport (9.80 per cent), Hyderabad Airport (3.76 per cent), Kochi Airport (3.52 per cent), Kolkata Airport (2.72 per cent), Ahmedabad Airport (1.16 per cent), Tiruchirapalli Airport (1.15 per cent) and Trivandrum Airport (1.08 per cent).
