Most Indian visitors to Japan happen to be business travellers, Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) is focusing on changing that by putting in a lot of effort in attracting Indian leisure travellers. “The Indian outbound market is rapidly expanding, which clearly represents a substantial growth in the travel industry. JNTO is quite upbeat about the Indian market and is looking forward to welcoming more Indian visitors to Japan. Our strategy is to increase the market share of leisure travellers – and focusing on building relationships with our travel trade and media partners in the Indian market,” said Motonari Adachi, executive director- Singapore Office, Japan National Tourism Organisation. He mentioned that JNTO has been actively supporting both travel agents and media under various commemorative activities for 60th Anniversary of India-Japan Diplomatic Relationship.

Japan Airlines (JAL) has recently introduced Dreamliner B787 flight in Delhi-Tokyo sector, making it the first carrier to bring the aircraft to India. “India is the second country where JAL is flying this hi-tech aircraft. It is a significant move to attract a large number of Indian travellers and reiterates Japan’s commitment to the Indian market,” mentioned Adachi.
