Tourism Flanders & Brussels (Belgium), in its continuous efforts to promote Flanders in growing and promising Indian market, has expanded its marketing activities to target secondary cities in India. The local office recently hosted ‘Fabulous Flanders’ educational seminars for the trade and corporate partners in Ahmedabad, Chandigarh and Kolkata.

These seminars were organised to update the travel trade community about the latest destination developments and product offers in Brussels and Flanders. Besides reaching out to the travel agents in the respective cities, Tourism Flanders also made a presentation to the local business leaders on the sidelines of two seminars held in Chandigarh and Ahmedabad. As part of the Belgian delegation led by Pierre Vaesen, ambassador of Belgium, Tourism Flanders participated in a seminar titled ‘Doing Business in Belgium – Your Gateway to Europe’ in collaboration with the PHD Chambers of Commerce and Industries (PHDCCI) in Chandigarh. Another presentation was made during the launch of the Gujarat-chapter of Indo-Belgian-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Ahmedabad.

The Embassy of Belgium has also launched a visa application center in Chandigarh in association with VFS Global to boost tourism and trade from the region. Belgium has now extended its network of visa application centre services across nine Indian cities, including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Pune.

Flanders is the northern region in Belgium that offers a diverse range of tourism products – from artisan chocolates to over one thousand varieties of beer, highest density of Michelin-star restaurants, contemporary fashion scene to world-famous diamonds from Antwerp, loads of family fun and a rich heritage of comics (Tintin and the Smurfs).
