Seoul
Seoul, the capital city of the Republic of Korea, is an amalgam of the traditional and the modern where tall glass facade buildings juggle with historic palaces and antique furniture streets. Interesting places to visit include The Gyeongbokgung Palace which is much older than even the Forbidden City Palace in Beijing and the Itaewon and Gangham districts. Gangham which was made famous by the poupular 2012 K-pop song ‘Gangnam Style’ by the Korean entertainer Psy, was also the location for the Hollywood film The Bourne Legacy. Itaewon’s claim to fame was that US troops stationed at nearby Garrison Yongsan, used it as an R&R playground. A must visit is its Antique Furniture Street formed in the 1960s when US soldiers sold their furniture before returning back to the US.
